Step by step, we build a fairer and more creative society
Founded in 2009 in Casablanca, the Khotwa Association for Development and Culture grew out of an initiative by teachers and community organisers who believed that lasting development begins with people.
Active today across eleven neighbourhoods and villages, the association works in three complementary fields: education, economic empowerment for women and young people, and safeguarding local cultural heritage.
We treat culture as a lever for development rather than a luxury, and we hold every project to a simple standard: it must leave a measurable trace in the lives of the people it serves.
Equip vulnerable communities with the tools of knowledge and work, and safeguard local cultural memory, through sustainable field programmes designed with communities rather than for them.
A local society in command of its own development, where cultural memory is preserved and where learning and work are within reach of every woman and every young person, without exception.
