Association Khatwa was founded in 2011 in the Kasserine governorate, on the initiative of a group of teachers and cultural actors who believed that true development begins with people.
Today, the association works to preserve and revive local cultural heritage through documenting popular traditions and traditional arts, and organizing cultural activities and events that bring new generations closer to their history and identity, alongside supporting creative talents and cultural actors in the region.
We believe that culture is not a luxury but a driver of development, and that every project we launch must leave a measurable impact on the lives of its beneficiaries.
Equip vulnerable communities with the tools of knowledge and work, and safeguard local cultural memory, through sustainable field programmes designed with communities rather than for them.
A local society in command of its own development, where cultural memory is preserved and where learning and work are within reach of every woman and every young person, without exception.
